Jenny has performed with the Swedish band since 1987, but she posted on her Twitter page: “Merry CHRISTmas! Check out jennyberggren.com! I've played so many roles, now I will start my own way. Follow me. Luk 2...”
Jenny’s new website contains a video montage of her career with Ace of Base, before she announces: “Now I wanna reveal my story” and a solo video plays.
Ace of Base began their pop career as a four-piece - Ulf Elkberg and siblings Jenny, Jonas and Malin Berggren - before continuing as a trio when Malin departed the group in 2007.
Jenny confirmed that Ace of Base will now proceed as a duo, writing: “Meanwhile, the boys in the band are doing their musical thing, as I do mine. We wish each other the best of luck and work for the future. My hopes are that we can work together in the future, when I have proven myself as a solo artist.”
Earlier this year Ulf Elkberg annouced that Ace of Base had completed a new studio album - their first since 2002 - but were debating whether to “add a fourth member to the group again or to bring it out under a new name”
Ace of Base have sold more than 50 million records during their two-decade recording career, notching up 12 UK Top 40 hits with songs including ‘All That She Wants’, ‘The Sign’ and ‘Don't Turn Around’ as well as a string of U.S Hits!
