Steve Brookstein

Here’s another blast from the past... The very first ‘X-Factor’ winner (back in 2004): Steve Brookstein has said that he regrets falling out with Simon Cowell.
Steve scored a number one single and album way back then but disagreed with his mentor (Simon) over songwriting issues and was then released from the media mogul's record label.
“This is what happens when you fall out with Simon Cowell,” he told a Sunday newspaper
Steve was speaking following his performance at a pub in Cornwall, which attracted just 50 people... Ooops!
Lesson to be learned here is at least make your first million before you go off on one when someone has vastly more experience (and cash)!

Sugababes

Mark my words... One day they’re gonna make a movie about this band! The latest reports are that Keisha Buchanan is suing the current Sugababes in an attempt to stop the band from using its name...
When Keisha was asked to leave the group last year and was replaced by Jade Ewen it meant that none of the original Sugababes members were still involved in the band.
According to a Sunday newspaper Kaisha has now launched a legal bid to claim a stake in the band, which she founded in 1998.
The High Court action reportedly demands that the current Sugababes members – Jade Ewen, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah - either change the group's name or pay her a one-off sum, (which could amount to millions of pounds)
“This is a landmark case and will send shockwaves through the industry,” the newspaper reports... “The Sugababes are one of the most successful girlbands of all time, but if they are forced to change their name it would be absolutely disastrous for them,..It would be very hard for them to maintain any credibility if they had no original band members and were called something else.”
“Keisha was an integral member from the very beginning so it is easy to understand why she is acting like this. She even came up with the band's name with fellow founder member Mutya Buena and deserves something for making the Sugababes what they are today.”
Will the bitching ever stop...? i personally vote for all the original members to come back!

Aerosmith

Aerosmith have announced a European tour this summer and it will be complete with front man Steven Tyler!
The guys released a video on Thursday which contained the news of the tour. Steven recently completed three months in rehab for an addiction to prescription painkillers and the rest of Aerosmith threatened to audition replacements when they learned that Steven was on drugs.
“I just auditioned and I got the gig,” Steven Tyler joked... “We're coming your way and rocking your world. Look out baby - because here we come again.” ... You gotta love Steven for his humour ~ Watch out Dublin!

Rihanna

Oh dear ... Rihanna has revealed that she wrote the track ‘Cold Case Love’ about her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.
she wrotethe song after being assaulted by Chris Brown in March last year... “It's a song that everybody wanted to hear,” she admitted on CNN, “Everything that I didn't say for the past eight months, exactly how I felt about that relationship and how I feel about it now - that song says it all.”
Some of the lyrics in the song include, “Your love was breaking the law, but I needed a witness,” and, “What you did to me was a crime, cold case love.” On the flip side, Rihanna reportedly cried after she was played Chris Brown's song ‘'Changed Man’, which he wrote after the incident.

Amy Winehouse

Mitch Winehouse yesterday revealed that his daughter, Amy, once turned down a duet with Robbie Williams.
While presenting his online show ‘Mitch Winehouse's Showbiz Rant’, he said: “I'm a bit worried about Robbie, next thing he'll be wanting to make a record with Amy. That's preposterous... He added: “Actually he said that once... he wanted to do a record with Amy. Amy said, ‘Are you f**king joking?’”
He also voiced fears that Amy has replaced drugs with a shopping addiction, claiming she has spent thousands on shoes she has never worn... if i were you Mitch, i’d be thankful it’s shoes!

Jesus Luz

Madonna’s boyfriend: Jesus Luz, has just signed a two single record deal with Madonna’s old label ‘Warner’ and they also have first refusal on an album should the track be a success!
Madonna has reportedly pulled more than a few strings to get Jesus on the books and has also has also come at her expense in more ways than one: First off it’s rumoured that she’s had to give permission for her No.1 hits ‘Like a prayer’ & ‘Vogue’ to be licensed in major TV adds in America (Something Madonna hardly EVER does) ...
Also it’s been said that she’s footing the bill for all his studio time and expenses...
I just hope it’s all worth it Madonna!
At least I’ll have the B-Side of his track which will be a re-mix featuring Madonna vocal as a souvenir!

Cheryl Cole

A word of advice to ALL female artists ... ALWAYS use your maiden name as your stage name, (Just in case...) Cheryl Cole is the latest artist to fall into this trap and is now rumored to be re-releasing her solo album under her maiden name.
Mel B (from the Spice Girls) was victim to this (Release track under Mel G) of course Tina Turner just wouldn’t be the same if she went back to ‘Bullock’ ...

“I did something with Chicane recently which I can't wait to get out,” he told a national newspaper... “I'm looking to experiment on my fifth album, so this is a nice way of testing the water.”
Can’t wait to hear it (even though I’m not a fan of Lemar) Chicane is though is brilliant!

Chicane previously collaborated with Bryan Adams & Tom Jones in 2 of the best dance songs of the last decade!

Coldplay

Coldplay have announced that they will release their 5th album “hopefully this Christmas”.
They have been recording new material under maximum security in North London... “There are only two people in the whole building who know how to open all the recording files,” Chris Martin explained ... “Even we don't know how to do it. We couldn't even steal our own music. You would have to be a computer genius and a great burglar to get into the building, and download it, and mix it.”
Their last album “Viva la Vida” sold a massive 9 Million copies, it’ll be hard to top it guys!

Vengaboys

Okay i don’t care what you say... Wooo Whooooo ~ The Vengaboys have reportedly filmed a new music video in London.
The band has just finished a sellout UK / Ireland (as well as the rest of Europe) promotional tour and are now said to be planning a fulltime pop comeback.
The band wrote on their Twitter page: “In London for the videoshoot... It's gonna be a 19 hour workday but i promise you, it'll be SO worth it!” the group wrote on Twitter.
The Vengaboys sold 15 MILLION records during their time! And for all their cheese, they will (along with Aqua) always bring a smile to my face :-)

Just when we had all forgotten who Chico was, it’s now been reported that he’s about to release an unofficial World Cup song!
But wait for it... it’s a re-working of his 2006 No.1 single ‘It’s Chico time’ only now he ‘sings’ ‘It’s football time’ .... Maybe i should fall asleep now ‘till the world cup is over so i don’t have to listen to all the crap that’s about to be released in the run up the world cup...

Good news for JLS ... Jay-Z made a prediction that JLS will achieve widespread success in the US!
Jay-Z saw JLS at the Brit’s on Tuesday and afterwards said that they could be as popular as 'N Sync.
“I liked JLS, I watched them do their show. They're a good band and remind me of 'N Sync, a band who do the boy band thing well,”... “They put on a class performance and I think they will go on to be as big as 'N Sync.”
JLS recently scored a contract with Jive Records is America and confirmed that they will release ‘Everybody in love’ as their first single later this year.

'N Sync reached number two with their self-titled debut album on the Billboard 200. Their follow-up records No Strings Attached and Celebrity both topped the charts. They have sold an estimated 56 million albums worldwide.

Abbey Road studios

It’s a sad day learning that EMI Records has put London's Abbey Road studios up for sale!
The iconic recording base, located in St John's Wood and immortalized by The Beatles' 1969 album Abbey Road, is being made available by the company's owners Terra Firma.
As well as The Beatles, iconic bands like: Oasis, Blur, Manic Street Preachers, Pink Floyd and Radiohead have recorded at Abbey Road.
Abbey Road was first opened in 1931 by the Gramophone Company, (which later became EMI)

Brit Awards 2010

The best performance of the night had to go to either: Dizzee Rascal & Florence + The Machine or Jay-Z & Alicia Keys.
By far the worst performance had to be Cheryl Cole’s attempt at miming, it was pure dreadful and a complete embarrassment! It had all the potential of being a brilliant performance ... She let herself down!

I have to agree with host Peter Kay when he called Liam Gallagher a ‘Knob Head’ after he threw his mic AND BRIT award into the crowd! ... In fact i could think of a few better words than that!
Lady Gaga stole the show by winning 3 awards and her whacky (yet rather cool) hairdo and outfit.

Bad news for all you Saturday’s fans ... the girls have reportedly ruled out going on a UK tour this year
The girls claimed that they are too busy doing promotion overseas. “We badly want to do a tour, but we've got a lot of things to do, so it's about fitting it in with Asia and Europe,” Rochelle Wiseman told a national newspaper... “We wanted an arena tour last year but you have to come up in stages. Last year's small theatre tour was much more personal. We had been supporting other people, so it was refreshing... “As much as we love supporting we always worry whether the crowd will like us because they've come to see the other person.”
The Saturdays admitted that they are eager to perform at more festivals, despite having initial fears about how well they would be received.
“We will be doing all the festivals. The first ones were terrifying. Because we're pop we thought we'd get booed,” ... “We went from being frightened to getting the best reaction.”
Would of been great to hear them sing their first album (Chasing Lights) live!

Robbie Williams is to release a new ‘Greatest Hits’ album in the autumn.

The Helping Haiti charity single was last night outselling its nearest chart rival by a massive four copies to one. (Official midweek sales figures are released today)

Half the money raised will go to The Sun's Helping Haiti fund and the other half to the Disasters Emergency Committee.

A HMV spokes person said: “For it to sell over 100,000 copies in a day or two underlines once again the generosity of the UK and Irish public when called upon to help others.”
Retailers - including Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Marks & Spencer, Bhs, and Argos stock the single for around £3.99 / €4.99

Fall Out Boy

Bad news for all you ‘Fall Out Boy’ fans ‘cos Pete Wentz has admitted that he “doesn't know” whether Fall Out Boy have a future together...
The band are currently ‘on a break’ which Pete now says shows no signs of stopping.
Posting on his official website, he wrote: “To make it perfectly clear. I don't know the future of Fall Out Boy. It's embarrassing to say one thing and then have the future dictate another.
“As far as I know, Fall Out Boy is on break. (No-one wants to say the "h" word). As much as I don't have a solo project, I also can't predict that I'd ever play in Fall Out Boy again. Not due to personal relationships as much as a band we grew apart.”... Pete continued: “In this statement I'd like to include there is the possibility that FOB will play again without me or I will be a part of it when everyone is on the same page. It is no-one's fault and there is no animosity about the decision. I felt as fans you deserve to know.
“There is no singular reason for this. The side-projects or bands are supported by all members of the band. I am the single biggest fan of FOB and if this is our legacy than so be it. I am proud of it.”
Shame, i think they were quiet a good band!

Black Grape

Black Grape are getting back together for their first gig in 12 years.
The group, (fronted by Shaun Ryder following his exit from the Happy Mondays), will play London's Coronet Theatre on 1st April as part of the ‘Get Loaded In The Dark’ event.
The reformation comes just before of the release of a Shaun Ryder greatest hits album, which is expected to be released in the summer.
Speaking of the impending reunion, Shaun said: “It's great, it's interesting, it's part two. I've had a break and now I'm back to do it. [Fellow Black Grape member] Danny Saber and I have a great working relationship and the time is right.”
The band formed back in 1993 The original lineup also included Happy Mondays dancer and former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ winner Bez.
Black Grape parted ways in 1998 when Ryder fired the rest of the group while promoting their second album ‘Stupid Stupid Stupid’

Mark Ronson

Mark Ronson has confirmed that he’s working with Santigold, Dave McCabe (from the Zutons), Scissor Sisters, Mike Snow and Cathy Dennis on his new album.
“There's no covers, and no horns. It's written with some of the people that actually wrote the songs I covered on the last album and that I didn't actually even know at the time...
“It's quite interesting to write songs from scratch with those people, like Dave who wrote ‘Valerie’.”
Mark Ronson revealed that the album will be released “probably May, June depends how quick I can get it done”
Can’t wait, his last album was a masterpiece!
