Jamie Archer

Okay I wouldn’t normally post X-Factor style things (unless it’s the winner) but I feel every one has to see this audition!
This guy probably gave one of the best 1st auditions of all time, anyone who can get a crowd of 2500 to sing your song is a sure fire winner… 6:26 minutes of pleasure. Great guy, perfect song choice (Kings of Leon)
The song (Sex on Fire) even re-entered the U.K. Top 40 charts yesterday at No.33 as a result of Jamie’s performance
Remember the name: Jamie Archer folks… he’s gonna be huge in 2010 a born entertainer! Click to watch his audition again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvBHzaZZO5o&feature=fvw also check out his web-site: http://www.jamieafromusic.com/

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson returns to her form doing what she does best and sings a balled called “Already gone” for her latest single.
This is her third single taken from her fourth studio album “All I ever wanted” which has already produced her first U.K. No.1 single this year for Kelly “My life would suck without you”.
The album has sold 1.5 million copies worldwide since being released in March, Over 200,000 of those were in the U.K and Ireland alone!
It wouldn’t surprise me if this wasn’t her second No.1 – Kelly’s a master with the ole ballads (as proven with her smash hit … “Because of you”)
Click to list / watch the "Already gone" video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVZaA2s7xYI

Kid Cudi

My first thought was what is Kid Cudi thinking of sampling Lady Gaga’s “Poker face” in his new song “Make her say” (feat … Kanye West & Common) but after a couple of spins it’s actually really really good! The song is his follow up to the huge global dance smash “Day ‘n’ Nite” and is released on 28th September. Click to hear / watch the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlpvXOuIJT4&feature=fvst

Leona Lewis

Leona Lewis has revealed that her new album is called “Echo” and It’ll be released on November 16.
“Echo” will be Leona Lewis's follow-up to “Spirit” which has now sold more than six million copies worldwide since it's release in 2007.
Don't Let Me Down” (is rumoured to be the album's first single) was leaked on the internet last week and I really hope it’s not the first single … ‘cos it’s err…. Not that good!, however Leona’s vocals, are as ever, on top form!
Click the link to hear the song in full (before it’s removed … Lol) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEHnemqQsvY&feature=related

Alexandra Burke

It’s also been No.1 in Germany and Luxemburg, No.2 in Norway and No.3 in Russia “nothing keeping you here” is especially a great track!

Sean Kingston

Jamaican rapper Sean Kingston’s track still climbing up the charts (No.12 in Ireland & No.13 in the U.K) with his latest offing: “Fire Burning” which is from Sean’s new album: “Tomorrow” due for release on September 21st.

Taylor Swift

Did anyone else think that Taylor Swift was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY out of her comfort zone at “v” over the weekend....?
“V” is for “established” artists... and having one single isn’t an establish artist...

Brick & Lace

I’ve hand my hands on a pro album from: Brick & Lace – “Love is wicked” ... and if I like it... you’ll hear from me soon...
Although these girls are huge in Europe and Asia, they’ve yet to make an impact in the U.K. & Ireland, but their last single: “Bad to di bone” was BRILLIANT... from me hearing the last two single’s theses girls should be HUGE.... I’m a HUGH fan!

Esmée Denters

Esmée Denters releases her debut single “Outta Here” on 21st August which is... (wait for it) .... absolutely cr*p!
Esmée Denters from The Netherlands originally found fame on website “Youtube” where she covered songs from: One Republic, Beyoncé, and Mariah Carey... Oh, and err... Justin Timberlake!
The only reason she’s made it on my blog is that Justin Timberlake produced it (i wonder why) ... Mmm my first question to him would be surprisingly ... “Why?” (Removing how she looks from the equation of course...)
See / hear for yourself:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LSjDumE9Ic&feature=fvst

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga releases her 4th single from her 3 MILLION selling album “The Fame” (which is probably the best track) “Love Game” which has already been released in countries like: America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Sweden.. This is a masterpiece of a dance track if their ever was one! Genius... I hear Lady Gaga’s 3rd No.1 single calling... click to hear / watch the new video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocwZU89NPi4

Placebo

Placebo follow up their last brilliant single “For what it’s worth” on the 7th September with their new release: “The never-ending why?” and it’s just as good!
These guys have never been able to re-capture the success of their 1996’s singles from their debut “Placebo” album which is such a shame! Still, they remain a huge global album selling band having shifted over 10 MILLION albums!
Brian Molko is so talented with an amazin' voice and vision, his sound is just captivating!

Little Boots

Little Boots single “Remedy” has been racing up the charts over the past 8 weeks (currently No.10 in the U.K. and No. 15 in Ireland) it’s a brilliant song and a great follow up to her debut hit “New in town”.
Little Boots debut album “Hands” was released at the beginning of June and if you don’t own it … then you’re missing out!
It’s already been at No. 5 in the U.K. and been in the Top 20 in Ireland.
Little Boots (Real name Victoria) originally found fame back in 2000 as a contestant on “Pop Idol” and is about to embark on a promotional tour of America in hope of cracking the states!

US Charts

The Black Eyed Peas today made U.S. Chart history by holding onto the No.1 spot for an 8th week in the U.S. with their single “I gotta feelin’”, This now means the band have been continuously No.1 in the singles chart for a record breaking 20 weeks! Having previously led the list for the prior 12 weeks with “Boom Boom Pow”
The previous record was held by Usher, when he was No.1 with his single’s “Yeah!” & “Burn” back in 2004.
Also in the record books is Jason Mraz with his smash hit “I’m yours”, it spends an unimaginable 70th week on the chart! This record was previously held by LeAnn Rimes’ single “How do I live” back in 1997 which spent a MASSIVE 69 weeks on the chart! (Personally I prefer LeAnn to Jason any day!)
On the album front country star George Strait (who has sold more than 73 million records) rockets straight into the No.1 spot

U2

U2 release more yet more dibble from their horrible album “No line on the horizon”, this time it’s in the form of “I’ll go crazy if I don’t go crazy tonight” which was set to be released on 17th August (Monday). It’s limping at No.100 in the U.K and No. 49 in the Irish charts.
Their previous single “Magnificent” which charted at No.79 in the U.S didn’t even get a looking in the U.K charts!
On the up side it could chart better than “Magnificent” did, as the song was used in T.V. television commercials for a new Blackberry application, called the “U2 Mobile App”, which was developed as part of “research in motion” sponsorship of the current U2 tour so more people will be familiar with the song.
Click the link to watch U2 perform it on the Letterman show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msCCBPy8iCk

Yazz

Yes folks the time has come to dust off your dancing shoes and get ready to re-live your youth! ‘Cos Yazz is back!
Originally released in July 1988, “The only way is up” became an instant global smash, Going to No.1 in Ireland and spending a massive five weeks at No.1 in the U.K. (ultimately became the biggest selling single of 1988).
Click on the link to hear the 2009 version! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxlHiyBewSA
The 2009 version is set to be released on 7th September!

Basshunter

Swedish dance star Basshunter is getting to release his new single “Every morning” from his second album “Bass Generation”.
“Every morning” is released on 21st September click on the below link to list / watch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cTIoU0czbA
Basshunter exploded onto the dance scene last year with his debut single “Now You're Gone” which went on to being the 8th biggest selling single of 2008 in the U.K
I hope this isn’t the best track off the album! As it’s not a great first track from a follow up album.

Moby

I purchased Moby’s new album “Wait for me” when I was in India and I’m still on the fence as to weather it’s a chill-out classic or one the most boring albums to be released in recent years! (the fact I still can’t make my mind up 2 weeks on maybe an indicator) – which is actually disappointing considering his last album (called “Last night”) was almost as good as “Play”.
“Wait for me” hasn’t performed very well on the ole charts either limping to No.44 in the UK, No.22 in the U.S. and not even getting a look-in on the Irish charts.

Monday, August 17, 2009

Tinchy Stryder

Tinchy Stryder releases his new album “Catch 22” today and let me tell you… It’s a corker!
Other than the brilliant singles he’s already released:
“Number 1” … Feat N-Dubz,
“Take me back” Feat… Taio Cruz
“Never leave you” Feat… Amelle from the Sugababes

There are a few gems to be heard on here like: “Stryderman” & “Warning”.
I was surprised to hear cover versions / samples of Olive’s “You’re not alone” & Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band’s “Express Yourself” (which you’ll recognise from numerous TV adverts or from the film Mr & Mrs Smith) both are good versions.
I think Tinchy is going to beat Calvin Harris (who releases his 2nd album today) to the number one album on Sunday!

Sunday, August 16, 2009

UK Charts

Tinchy Stryder was knocked off No.1 today when The Black Eyed Peas returned to the No.1 spot for a second time with their single: “I gotta feelin’”.

Top 5 UK Singles:
5: Beyoncé – “Sweet dreams”
4: Peter Andre – “Behind closed doors”
3: Calvin Harris – “Ready for the weekend”
2: Tinchy Stryder feat... Amelle – “Never leave you”
1: Black Eyed Peas – “I gotta feelin”

4: Paolo Nutini – “Sunny side up”
3: Black Eyed Peas – “The E.N.D”

N-Force

N-Force’s new single “all my life” has ruined one of the best love songs of all time!
I find it hard to believe that K-Ci and Jojo agreed to this! : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHCRLbqkNss ... Pure cr*p!

Madonna

Click this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UoCWp4jAYc to hear Madonna’s new single: “Celebration” that’s released on 29th September (and I know it’s a sure fire No.1 hit.... PLEASE PLEASE, Make it No.1), you can download it NOW from i-tunes... Although I’m VERY surprised she’s not singing it on her current world tour, (just goes to show she’s not about chart positions!)

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey’s new 12th album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” has been delayed for the 3rd time!
Originally scheduled for an August 25th release date then it was pushed to 15th September, now it’s suppose to arrive two weeks later on September 29th. This afternoon, Mariah’s website was updated with this message: "Mariah is putting the finishing touches on her newest album, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," and we have shifted all of our TV and promo appearances to coincide with the new release date of September 29th. We can't wait for the fans to hear the new album!!"Mariah Carey's latest single "Obsessed," reached No. 11 in the US (currently No.14)
“Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” has already stirred up controversy with the label's decision to include advertising in the CD packaging, in the form of a mini-Elle magazine featuring Carey-related content.

Back 2 the 90’s

"Back 2 the 90’s" has to be one of the best compilation albums released in years!
54 jam packed hits, include pure dance classics like: Felix “Don’t you want me”, Robin S “Show me love”, JX “There’s nothing I won’t do” and of course the club classic (that is one of the best dance song EVER...) O.T. Quartet “Hold that sucker down” click the link to hear O.T. Quartet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_yUkBXVY30&feature=related (ignore the cheesy video) ~
(Who ever compiled disc 3 should be sacked, as the last 6 tracks should of been replaced with anthems like: Alison Limerick “Where love lives” or Faithless “Insomnia”!) But I suppose they never asked me for advice... plus there’s only so much you can cram onto a 3 disk CD album)

***Everyone should have this album in their collection***

Yes the cheesy Scandinavian band who had massive hit's with "Barbie girl", "Turn back time", "Dr Jones" and "Cartoon Hero's" are back with their just as catchy song "Back to the 80's" due for release on 21st September for their Greatest Hits album click on the link to listen to it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gz8loLIYc2Q
Aqua have sold over 33 MILLION records world wide and this song is gonna be huge and i wouldn't be at all surprised if it gave them their 4th UK No.1 (ok I'm secretly hoping ... it's soooo catchy!)

V.V. Brown

V.V. Brown is quite an unknown UK artist that’s slowly making shockwaves in music industry this year with her debut album “Travelling like the light”, (Even P:Diddy tried to sign her to his label in the US)
Although she’s only recently seen chart success in the UK & Ireland with Track 3: “Shark in the water” there’s by far better tracks on the album like “Game over”, "Crying Blood" and “Leave”.
She’s certainly gonna give The Noisettes a run for there money, if you like the sound of The Noisettes then V.V. Brown is a must for 2009

Tommy Sparks

New Swedish artist Tommy Sparks new album (funnily enough also titled: “Tommy Sparks”) was release back in May, but due to the hugely successful singles “She’s got me dancin’ and “I’m a rope” its being re-launched on 31st August and i got my hands on a promo copy to listen too.
Some may have seen Tommy when he was supporting Bloc Party on tour earlier this year, He’s also written a track for The Prodigy and featured on The Filthy Dukes album “Nonsense in the dark”
Track “Miracle” is brilliant! – Deffinatly worth a purchase!

Sugababes

Sugababes release their 25th single "get sexy" on 31st August which is gonna have everyone up on the dance floor over the next few months, you can definitely hear inspirations in the song from Kylie and err... Right Said Fred ...
This single is going to do much better than their last release "No can do" which limped to No.23 in the UK charts and didn't even chart in Ireland.
Sugababes are set to release their 7th album on the 9th November which includes tracks with Ne-Yo and RedOne (who is the backbone that helped launch Lady Gaga)

Peter Andre

Peter Andre's latest single "Behind closed doors" is currently at No4 in the midweek chart, however early sales figures released by "Amazon" yesterday suggested he might hit the top on Sunday! However the data from retail stores and iTunes show he's slipping back.
Black Eyed Peas are selling the most with "I Gotta Feelin'", "Ready For The Weekend" by Calvin Harris is heading for No2. while current No.1 Tinchy Stryder's "Never Leave You" - is on course for No3.

Mika

Mika release's his new single "We are golden" on 6th September and it's a corker! (even if the video is a little on the ... Err ... weird side, "The video features Mika dancing around a bedroom in his underwear as a "celebration of all the years Mika spent dancing around his bedroom as a teenager".)
Mike's second album "The boy who knew to much" is due for release on 21st September - Hope it's as good as "Life in Cartoon Motion"

Calvin Harris

Does anyone else think that Calvin Harris’s new single “Ready for the weekend” is extremely similar to “The Freemasons” sound...?
Saying “you left your album on a plane, to give you an extra year of time” obviously didn’t make him produce anything better than anyone else out there!
I can’t see his single / album doing any better than the last (which was fresh and a new sound) the execption of course is "I'am not alone" ....

Eminem

I think Eminem should have stayed where ever he was when he said he was “retiring”.... Eminem’s new single “Beautiful” (the 4th single of his come back album) is probably one of the worst records / singles I’ve ever heard in my life (and believe me... I’ve over 30,000 records in my collection – and this is well up there) – dreadful, pure dreadful! and by the sale's figures of his latest "relapse" album i'm not the only one thinking 50 Cent has a lot to answer for ... (bringing Eminem out of retirment)

Pink

Pink release’s her forth single “funhouse” from the multi million selling album also named “Funhouse”
This is only one of many tracks on an album full of fantastic songs!
Not only did “Pink” produce her best album of her career (so far) but also produce an amazing tour to go with it (which I’ll be re-viewing when it hits Ireland again in October)
Also check out the songs that were not released as singles (in Europe): “Bad Influence”, “Mean” & “Aye Mary A” ... a truly great album from an artist who not only isn’t afraid to speak her mind but not afraid to change and try something different!

Tinchy Stryder

Tinchy Stryder is set to land his second No.1 single in a row on Sunday. Midweek data shows the star is way ahead of the competition. "Never Leave You" feat ... Amelle (from "Sugababes") will knock Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feelin'" into second place.
Tinchey (22) scored his first UK & Irish No.1 single with N-Dubz back in April this year (it was the first time in chart history that a single titled "Number 1" actually went to No.1
- N-Dubz play "Clubland Live 3" on 1st December in The O2, Dublin)
