The Scissor Sisters have claimed that the recession is putting the future of live music in jeopardy...
Financial difficulties have forced The Scissor Sisters to abandon a number of planned European festival dates this year... Speaking to a national newspaper front man Jake Shears said... “People are cancelling tours all over the place. It’s a very expensive thing to get even a well-known band on the road,”
Guitarist Del Marquis added: “We were supposed to be really busy this summer but festivals keep going under... “Hultsfred in Sweden just went bankrupt, as did Norway’s Kristiansand. It’s scary because for a while it seemed live music was a safe buck for the industry, but not anymore.”
They also said that they are surprised of their success of their new album in America: “The album is doing well in America. Surprisingly we are Top 10,” ~ “The Brits couldn’t wait for us to come back and it seems the Americans couldn’t either, so we’ve never been happier.”
