The excitement is starting to build as RTÉ has today announced the five finalists for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest.
The songs were chosen by a jury, (chaired by former Eurovision winner Linda Martin)
The 5 songs were chosen from almost 300 entries submitted from both Ireland and abroad, and you’ll be able to see them performed on ‘The Late Late Show Eurosong Special’ on 5 March.
The five songs selected for Eurosong 2010 are:
1) Baby, Nothing's Wrong - Performed by Michael Graham
2) Does Heaven Need Much More? - Performed by Leanne Moore
3) Fashion Queen - Performed by Monika Ivkic
4) It's For You - Performed by Niamh Kavanagh
5) River of Silence - Performed by Lee Bradshaw
During 'The Late Late Show Eurosong Special' the winner, who will represent Ireland at this year's 'Eurovision', will be decided by 50% regional jury vote and 50% public televote which replicates the recent change to the rules in the 'Eurovision Song Contest' itself.
This year Eurovision semi-final is due to take place on 27th May and the grand final on 29th May.

You can't really be serious? 'Love the Eurovision Song contest!' I would have said the most unadulterated kack to fill our screen ever, but then there is Big Brother, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, X-factor, etc etc - all the ghastliness of reality tv. In fact perhaps we could love Eurovision as a charmimg quaint survival, like flying ducks and teacakes!
ReplyDeleteHey Alec
ReplyDeleteEveryone say's they hate the Eurovision Song Contest yet most people find themselves either watching it, watching the results or reading about it the following day!
It's a great event that brings (and divides) the whole of Europe for one evening in the year!
You probably wouldn’t know where half of the countries where if it wasn’t for the Eurovision :-)
Ignoring the comment at the end that I don't know the geography of Europe, and need a kack tv show to tell me, if I say I hate the Eurovision Song Contest then I hate it. I don't watch it (why would I?), I don't know the result (although sometimes if I'm not quick enough the truly awful result might get past my guard), and I don't read about it. As if we need more things to divide us! Love, Alec
ReplyDeleteLol, Sorry - i just re-read the last part of my comment and thought it probably came across wrong, i wasn't meaning you personally, i meant people in general ... Lmao
ReplyDeleteI still think you'll have a sneaky look at the results though ...! :-)
