Congratulations to John Mayer who scores his second U.S No. 1 album this week, “Battle Studies” which sold a massive 286,000 copies. The album “Battle Studies” now holds the third-best sales week for a digital release this year with 129,000 downloads

Jay-Z (Featuring Alicia Keys) spends a second week at No.1 in the single singles chart with “Empire State of mind”.

Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending 22nd Nov) are down 16% compared to the same sales week of 2008 (9.45million).
Year to date album sales stand at 309.5 million, down 13% compared to the same total at this point last year (357.8 million).
