Madonna has been named as the UK's most played artist of the decade by music licensing body PPL.
The Beatles came in second place, Robbie Williams in third, Queen was fourth and Take That in fifth. The chart was based on the number of plays on television, radio, and in public places (such as shops, pubs and clubs) between 2000 and 2009.
Madonna was the only solo female artist in the top ten!
Last year, PPL revealed that Snow Patrol's ‘Chasing Cars’ was the most played song of the decade and Procol Harum's ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’ was the most played track in public places in the last 75 years.

But, as the PPL is public performance, it means Madge is the most played in public. In private, she I fear may have fallen way down the list!
