This is good news for those who’ve been stung by fraudulent concert tickets, but bad news for those who buy tickets from a third party...Live Nation have unveiled proposals to scrap paper tickets in favor of digital wristbands at future UK festivals... The concert promoter hopes to combat touts and fake ticketing scams with its unique “smart chip” devices, which will initially be aimed at large-scale outdoor music events. Live Nation UK spokesperson John Probyn told ‘Newsbeat’: “Your ticket won't be a paper ticket, it'll be a wristband unique to you.”
Plans to customize each ticket to the customer would also stop the online sales of tickets via secondary markets.
As the world's biggest concert promoter, Live Nation organizes some of music's biggest annual events, including London's Wireless Festival.
